Franklin the Cat

Well obviously this blog is about Franklin. Since Sam's appearance into this world, all things not Sam seem to be pushed to the side. So here's an update about Franklin. The picture below shows Frank taking life easy. He seems to be ok with Sam Curtis now (after 5 mos). Most days Franklin really wants nothing to do with Sam, but every once in a while he'll get that curious cat hair and want to check Sam out. I'll be feeding Sam and Frank will come sniff his head, or we'll come in from running errands or from Mom and Dad's house and he'll come check him out. I really think he smells Jack and Oliver but I keep telling myself he just wants to make sure we didn't sneak a new baby into the house. Just today Frank showed me his ornery side. I went up this morning to check on Sam to make sure he fell asleep ok and wasn't being smothered by his glow worm, and sneaky Frank snuck up behind me and belts out a "MEOW". And yes Sam WAS asleep. I snatched him up and scooted his cat rear out the door. He bunches up as to say "no mom I am NOT going back downstairs", turns to face off with me and bolts past me into Sam's room. Quite the act of defiance by the bold kitty. Ah but I showed him! I snatched him up again and carried his cat rear downstairs. Who's the boss now? But overall Franklin is very content with how his life is going I think. Doesn't he look happy?

Some Black and White Fun!

Thursday nights are our pizza night. Typically we venture down to our local Pizza Hut, but since it has been too cold to take Samurai out, we have ordered in pizza tonight. You can say that we are in a rut, predictable, or what ever you want, but we have a great time on Thursday nights. We started this tradition when we first moved into our house. We didn't want to cook and have to do too much work before Grey's Anatomy. We need our minds rested and ready to watch. If you are Grey's Anatomy freaks like us, then you'll understand, if not, well you will have to start with season one and catch up pretty fast!! Here are some fun photos that we took tonight after downing some pizza and bread sticks! (If any of this sounds crazy to you then you should have been with us for Chipotle Saturday in Dallas. The Chipotle manager gave us a manilla envelope full of coupons for free burritos before we moved up here. Yes we make friends easily.)

5 Months!

WOW! 2 posts in just a few days. We are out doing our selves. Sam loves playing in his exersaucer these days. For some reason he has started sucking on his lower lip. It is pretty funny when he does it!

No there is nothing wrong with your eyes. I was just getting a little creative!!

"What is this thing?"

"Hey where did my lip go?"

Sam is Talking!

Over the past week Sam has started talking more and more. Here is just a little clip on how he is doing (more squeeking than anything). We are having fun listening to him talk and play. He has also started to roll over more and more in the crib. It is just a matter of time before we are baby proofing everything and he moves about the room.

New Year Surprise!!

Over New Years we decided to make it a really special one for my Mom and Dad. For some time now we had planned to go to Nebraska to see my parents since they have not been able to see Sam.

So. Courtnee and I started out on Wednesday Dec. 31st to Holdrege. We had planned that we were just going to show up and Mom and Dad's and Yell "Surprise". We decided (with help from Stacy) that we should at least call and tell Mom that we were coming because who wants people just to show up out of the blue when your house is not in showing condition (I know I don't). On the way to Albert Lea Minnesota (where we were stopping for the night) we called mom and it went something like this.

Kelly - "Dad, is mom there?,"
Dad -"Yes one second."
Mom - "Hello"
Kelly - "I just wanted to let you know that we are driving through La Crosse, stopping in Albert Lea for the night, and then going to get up and go the rest of the way to Holdrege. Is this ok?"
Mom - (Crying of course) "y-y-y-e-e-s-s-s-s"
Kelly - "Are you sure?"
Mom - (still crying) "I'm Sure".
Kelly - We will see you tomorrow!! we can't wait!

It sure was a great time and surprise to Mom and Dad was in on the surprise the whole time. It was good to see both of them and it was good to see how Sam would react to driving that kind of distance. Sam did pretty good on the way to Holdrege. It took us a while to get into a groove, but we did. Once we got to Holdrege Sam was not feeling good. It was the lack of sleep and he had a small stomach ache from not burping after the last feeding. While in Holdrege we were able to see some friends and we were also able to surprise Grandma and Grandpa Goos (Goes) as well. On the way home the roads were pretty bad. A couple of days before Iowa and part of Minnesota got freezing rain. We seen countless cars upside down or on their sides in the ditch. We are now safe at home and back into the daily routine. We all wish that you had a blessed 2008 (we did with the arrival of Sam) and we hope that you have a wonderful 2009.

We look forward to sharing our New Adventures.
