New Year Surprise!!

Over New Years we decided to make it a really special one for my Mom and Dad. For some time now we had planned to go to Nebraska to see my parents since they have not been able to see Sam.

So. Courtnee and I started out on Wednesday Dec. 31st to Holdrege. We had planned that we were just going to show up and Mom and Dad's and Yell "Surprise". We decided (with help from Stacy) that we should at least call and tell Mom that we were coming because who wants people just to show up out of the blue when your house is not in showing condition (I know I don't). On the way to Albert Lea Minnesota (where we were stopping for the night) we called mom and it went something like this.

Kelly - "Dad, is mom there?,"
Dad -"Yes one second."
Mom - "Hello"
Kelly - "I just wanted to let you know that we are driving through La Crosse, stopping in Albert Lea for the night, and then going to get up and go the rest of the way to Holdrege. Is this ok?"
Mom - (Crying of course) "y-y-y-e-e-s-s-s-s"
Kelly - "Are you sure?"
Mom - (still crying) "I'm Sure".
Kelly - We will see you tomorrow!! we can't wait!

It sure was a great time and surprise to Mom and Dad was in on the surprise the whole time. It was good to see both of them and it was good to see how Sam would react to driving that kind of distance. Sam did pretty good on the way to Holdrege. It took us a while to get into a groove, but we did. Once we got to Holdrege Sam was not feeling good. It was the lack of sleep and he had a small stomach ache from not burping after the last feeding. While in Holdrege we were able to see some friends and we were also able to surprise Grandma and Grandpa Goos (Goes) as well. On the way home the roads were pretty bad. A couple of days before Iowa and part of Minnesota got freezing rain. We seen countless cars upside down or on their sides in the ditch. We are now safe at home and back into the daily routine. We all wish that you had a blessed 2008 (we did with the arrival of Sam) and we hope that you have a wonderful 2009.

We look forward to sharing our New Adventures.

First Christmas!

Merry Christmas y'all! I hope everyone had as beautifully blessed Christmas as we did. The Christmas miracle this year was that as we were sitting at the dinner table talking, and Sam Curtis was laying on the floor near us. All four of us were talking and encouraging him, and he ROLLED OVER!! He's rolled over twice after his nap, but we never could catch him. So this was the first. It was too cool. We had a wonderful time with mom and Dad too. Mom and I did a nice simple lunch for us and we just relaxed all day. Santa (Weezer and Daddy Curt) brought Sam an "an official Red Ryder carbine-action 200-shot range model air rifle" except it's been upgraded to a 650-shot rifle. And if you don't know what I'm talking about, that quote is from A Christmas Story. I can't explain it you just have to watch it. Yes yes we know that he can't use it for a long time but we got some really cute pictures of him and Daddy Curt holding it. I think the adults will get some use out of it before Sam's day. When Sam's old enough, Daddy Curt wants to build an Alamo snow fort and fly a Texas flag in the front yard and yell at passers-by "REMEMBER THE ALAMO". Anyway, it was a beautiful day and of course we had a wonderfully white Christmas. The Peterson's wish everyone a Merry Christmas!!

Merry Christmas!

This week has been pretty fun. We have had about 8-10" of snow and we are currently getting more. Sam is doing great and so is Courtnee. The cool thing for this week was that Sam rolled over! YES! ROLLED OVER! he was taking a nap and started to fuss, so I went up to check on him and there he was laying there staring up at me. It was pretty crazy and I immediately yelled for Courtnee to come and see! We are looking forward to Christmas this next week because is is going to be the first for Sam. We wish you all a Merry Christmas!

Our little house buried in 8-10" of snow and still getting more.

Courtnee did a great job!

4 month appointment

Well we did it! Sam made it through his appointment like a champ. So we found out that his weight is in the normal range (14 lbs 8 oz) and his head is normal size (thank goodness! You don't want to know what mom and dad say about abnormal sized baby heads!) Doc says his head has grown a lot which is good b/c this means his brain is developing very well. YEAH! But the real shocker...not really.....is that he's in the 75% of height. For those of you who don't understand the percentile thing (which I didn't until today), anything above 50% is above average so in Sam's case means he's taller than average, and anything below 50% obviously means they are below average. Sam has grown about 2 in since his 2 mos visit which puts him about 25 1/4 inches tall. Besides the two shots it was a great visit! Thanks Dr. Tremble! He says our boy is healthy, growing, and developing very well. Something that every parent wants to hear. Happy Friday y'all!

4 Month Visit and Snow!

Courtnee and I took these photos a while back and most of you have already seen them. I The top is our favorite!

Sam is getting big and doing great. He has not started rolling over, but he does like to stand on our laps and play "Go Ski Cat". You will have to see him do this. Once he is standing on your lap he likes to come at you like a snake with his mouth open. You have to watch out because he has a tendency to get excited and ink. By ink I mean infant yack. Yeah, infant yack. you get the picture. We have also started feeding him some pears, bananas, peaches, and apple sauce mixed with rice cereal. He didn't like the peaches too well but loves the others. On Friday, he goes in for his 4 month check up and gets more shots and we are not looking forward to this part.

As for Courtnee and I, this week has been pretty good. We watched the last episode of Boston Legal which was very sad. No more Denny, Allen or Jerry (pop pop). This week has also given us the first big snow fall of the season. We now have over 8" of snow on the ground and will probably not melt until March. If you want, feel free to come and visit and we will not have any troubles putting you to work.

Have a great week!
