I'm pretty sure that Marilyn's main purpose while we were there was to fatten us up. Needless to say, we ate well. She told us to take a look in her fridge, that it had pretty much anything you could possibly want. She didn't exaggerate!! She had Dublin Dr Pepper in her fridge which was a great surprise to both Kelly and I! It's not something you typically find in the normal fridge. Here's to Aunt M's redneck fridge!! ;0)
The most memorable part of the trip was when she pulled out Uncle Joe's boots. What a treasured gift! Kelly has captured them beautifully below. Marilyn gave us the low down on the boots and who made them. Papa Sam Caldwell custom-made all of Uncle Joe's boots. The red and black ones are what I've been calling "boot contraband". The upper part of the boot that is red is made of cow leather and the toe is made of ostrich, which Marilyn said was illegal to use now.
And as we were getting ready to leave, Sam looked around Aunt Marilyn's yard and told her that when the leaves fall he would come and help her pick them up. Just him and her. Too sweet!
